Fes clay

Fes, Morocco, is famous for its clay. Due to the geological structure of the area, rich in mineral deposits, in Fes there is a craft industry, ceramic tiles and pottery. In the XVI century there was 124 potteries in town. Today, young apprentices and skilled craftsmen work together with bamboo & horse hair brushes, creating design inspired by the moresque motifs. The clay is shaped by hand, sun dried, painted in Fes Blue and fired in kiln.

Fes è famosa pe la sua argilla, ricca in depositi minerali, ideale per le ceramiche. Nel XVI secolo c’erano 124 botteghe in città. Oggi giovani apprendisti lavorano a fianco di esperti artigiani con pennelli di bambù e peli di cavallo, crenado motivi di ispirazione moresca. L’argilla è modellata a mano, seccata al sole, dipinta con il Blu di Fes e cotta nelle fornaci.
